Joie by Dozo Restaurant Review

Joie is a vegetarian restaurant which offers a 6-course lunch menu for $38 and a 7-course dinner menu. The food was refreshing and clean, and the plating was lovely, the service was extremely slow though and they were only a few waiters that were trained to take your order. This restaurant was recommended by a close friend. :)

This is the amuse bouche, I thought the carrot was extremely special because it tasted exactly like salmon, which is no mean feat to pull off. The raspberry was alginated and supposed to burst in your mouth, but isn't that so last decade? The black-looking thing with the lotus slice, is actually a cake stuffed with vanilla mousse, sweet and carb-worthy.

Sour Plum drink to whet your appetite

This was my fav! Matsusake mushroom cake with vanilla sauce and pistachio crumbs. Very interesting blend of flavors.

This looks like an escargot plate except they place mushrooms in place of escargot. The bread needed more seasoning.

Flaked filo pastry with rocket. It was okay, personally I don't like rocket for its bitter aftertaste but this dish was alright.

You get a choice of soup, so my friend chose the winter pea soup which was extremely herbal and oriental but great.

My other friend got the pea cappuccino, the cappuccino was good but the bread was fine only

I ordered this dish for my main, trio of spheres, consists of deep-fried mozarello and risotto and also the puff pastry. They also gave a curry sauce for dips, it was one of their most popular dishes and I liked it. It's interesting to note that the plate was decorated with olive oil speckled with gold dust, so we were advised to lick our plates clean.

Overall, I would recommend it for a healthy set lunch, assuming that the current price of $38 is still maintained, food is refreshing and very nicely presented, you feel healthier and sated after the meal.
