Tatsuya Restaurant @ Goodwood Park Review
I would describe tatsuya as more Singaporean-Japanese than japanese lol. I went to tatsuya with my family 5 years ago and with my friends 2 years ago, and we all didn't get what all the hype was about. But I was recently enlightened that it is what is off-the-menu that keeps the regulars coming back, and also the seasonal specials which are mostly flown from tsukiji market. So, we got the specials!
The 10 pcs sushi which included an appetizer of sea snail and crunchy tako with bonito flakes, and aburi (flame-torch) sushi that includes hotate scallop with foie gras, salmon belly with a generous dollop of kewpie mayo, and prawn with caviar, uni sushi and melt-in-the-mouth otoro
The aburi and fusion sushi may send sushi purists scuttling away with purified looks. But I digged it!! So good :) always open to all sorts of food regardless of rules, as long as it tastes good. It also came with miso soup and a Negitoro roll which was amazing. Very satisfied, will return again for the special.
And true to Singaporean-japanese food, the chef had the seasonal special of Kani crab tofu with century egg pitan sauce. This dish is probably the most Singaporean japanese dish, loved it again! Big huge generous chunks of fresh crab with soft tofu and roe, along with the pungent century egg sauce. Omg
