L'atelier de Joel Robuchon
Went to l'atelier de joel robuchon this time, having went to the au jardin one (the more formal restaurant) last time. I like the l'atelier because they have this tasting menu and you can order many bitesize portions of different dishes instead of ordering alacarte.
One thing that I look forward to the most is the insane joel robuchon bread bowl!
Ordered the bone marrow with toast, which was really good, the fatiness and gelatinous texture of the bone marrow really blended well with the crisp charred toast
ravioli
white bean soup with beans from france
poached eggs with mushroom
this is one of joel robuchon's signature dish - stuffed quail with foie gras and the famous mashed potatos
most of the main courses come with a serving of mashed potatos
i'm a big fan of joel robuchon's mashed potatos because they use 3 different kind of potatos, a generous serving of butter and milk so much so that it is pillowy, feather-like and ethereal
sometimes he also spices things up by adding nutmeg and cardamom for the exotic and intense flavor
we each finished a whole bowl of mash!
scorpion fish which had a firm texture similar to monkfish
chocolate with passionfruit
one gripe - as we mostly ordered a lot of tasting portions and my brother ordered a whole 4-course alacarte, they didn't serve him the mignardaises (petit fours) which didn't really score on the hospitality points
if they included mignardaises in the menu along with coffee and tea, they should definitely serve the customer the petit fours
although the food lived up to its standard as usual, the poor hospitality definitely marred the experience
